Traveling hundreds of kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, on June 2-3, 2016 the journey to build PNJ Home has come to Nghe An and donated two PNJ homes for two poor families here, which helps them have a safe shelter, and give them a firm belief in a bright future.
From Vinh city, the bus bringing the dream of PNJ Home passed 170km towards the westward of Nghe An, Quy Chau land welcomed the Charity Fund with the very hot sunshine plus Foehn winds making the air more oppressive.
Located on the halfway of Tham village hill, a steady level 4 house with spacious roof appeared in the joy of the whole charity delegation. The house owner – Ms. Le Thi Ha (Tham 2 Village, Chau Thuan Commune, Quy Chau District) and village women were present very early to welcome everyone. The forest banana, litchi and tea grown in upland with brittle laughter of everyone made such joys multiplied; perhaps thus she did not stop her tears.
Ms. Ha in joy of receiving a new house in the arms of neighbors and PNJ members.
Ms. Ha said: “I am delighted with the new house offered by PNJ, it is really valuable to my family. Previously, my old house is made of wood of low quality, largely open walls, unsealed thatched roof, my house leaks whenever it rains, the floor is only made of clay, and it is slippery, rats burrow around. In the past, when there was heavy rain, strong wind, we had to run out because of being afraid that the house would fall down, each one put on a raincoat, waiting for lighter wind to enter the house”. We were really touched and felt warmer when the red bricks of thousands of people contributed to build perfect homes for poor families.
Leaving Quy Chau, the team was pretty tired because of the hottest period, but the 40 degree heat failed to subdue PNJ volunteers to the second place in Nghi Loc district, Nghe An Province. The narrow village street took us to the address of PNJ Loving House in Nghi Loc, a red tile house of fresh lime. We were welcomed by Ms. Dau Thi Hoan (Lai Hamlet, Nghi Yen Commune, Nghi Loc District), a small woman with austere face stammering and constantly pointing.
When asked about the case of Ms. Hoan, Ms. Tran Thi Toan Tam (Head of PNJ Charity Fund) said: “When we came to verify the circumstance, Ms. Hoan was not at home, only her brother and her daughter stayed at home. She and her daughter are homeless, must stay with her brother and all their activities must rely on her brother and her sister-in-law.”
Ms. Loan’s previous house in poor condition was no longer a safe haven in the days of thunderstorm or cold climate from the high mountains
Thanks to her neighbors, the heartbreaking story about her family circumstances was discovered. Ms. Hoan was mental disabled, sometimes traveled away from home. 12 years ago after a long time of disappearance, she returned home with a growing belly and the owner of unborn baby was unknown, and the kid Dan was born in such situation!
Dan, a 11 year-old girl looked like a 8 year-old kid. Although she was little, she helped her uncle and aunt with a lot of housework such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor, cleaning the house. Some merit certificates of advanced students on the wall demonstrated her academic achievement, presented the pride and consolation for a simple home for a brighter future.
In addition, there was a tea hill, a banana garden, and some fruits such as guava; grapefruit etc. all would be taken to the market for revenue generation of the whole family. Dan innocently said: “I help my uncle and aunt sell tea or fruits in the garden. I just cycle to the market, choose a place and sell at the price told by my aunt. If on some day I fail to sell out, I will take the rest home to eat!” Dan smiled shyly!
Dan is the hope and the great consolation of Ms. Hoan and her uncle and aunt
Perhaps the shortage made Dan’s eyes so sad, but when she smiled, her smile was still full of innocence of the age 11, sparkling and sunny to others. We hope her innocent smile will always be on her lips, the current difficulties will not go off her smile, and the better will come to her and her mother under PNJ home.
Ms. Hoan was probably also difficult to demonstrate her feeling of joy when looking at this amazing thing – a warm house will become a safe and solid shelter
PNJ Charity Fund was no longer the miracle of people; it has become a companion, bringing the value of good life to the less fortunate in life.
