(PNJ) – In the afternoon of January 16, 2016, Mrs. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung – General Director of PNJ – together 30 youth union members of PNJ Company in cooperation with Ly Son island district mobilized the program on hand-in-hand for environmental protection with the message “Thank you for not littering” in the northern beach of Ly Son island district, Quang Ngai province. With the business philosophy “putting community benefits, customer benefits in business benefits,” PNJ Company chose the year 2016 as the year to launch PNJ youth delegation to jointly protect the environment and Ly Son comes first.
More than 200 young union members in Ly Son and members of the PNJ delegation scavenged and planted 100 square tropical almond trees awarded by PNJ for windbreak, limiting erosion and coastal erosion in the fall storm. Besides, 15 bins of 240 liter capacity per bin – have also been dedicated to Ly Son by PNJ to help locals and visitors conditional keep clean and beautiful beaches.
Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung said: “Ly Son – the front island district of the country – today is known by tourists at home and abroad. One of the problems in Ly Son today repeatedly mentioned by press is garbage. So I assign PNJ trade union to collaborate with Ly Son district union to organize the program “Thank you for not littering”. What we are doing will remind everyone to join hands for environmental protection, in order to make Ly Son a beautiful, clean island, trusted by tourists, Vietnamese and international friends”.
Mr. Dang Tan Thanh – Secretary of the Union of Ly Son district – said: “Over the past year, we have consulted with the Ly Son District party commitee about environmental programs in all the hot spots on the island. But it must be recognized that environmental protection has not been yet fully implemented. And the end of 2015, we received the good news to know that local PNJ trade union will get to Ly Son island to perform the environment work today. We would like to thank for sharing, interests of the company for Ly Son. Ly Son Youth will try to develop more programs to protect the environment and make Ly Son island green, clean and beautiful; economically strong, solid on defense and security”.
On the same day, representatives of PNJ youth union paid a visit to the naval personnel at the station T18 on Ly Son island, listened to sharing of those who protect the maritime sovereignty. PNJ donated an LCD TV and New Year gifts to naval personnel.
In the morning of January 17, PNJ Charity Fund in conjunction with the Fatherland Front of Quang Ngai province awarded 300 New Year gifts (worth 500 thousand VND each share) to help poor people of Ly Son district welcome warm New Year holidays. This activity is part of the program “Join PNJ for sharing warm New Year holidays” conducted every year, expressing the heart of officers and employees of PNJ for the poor in the country.
Ms. Dung said: “Every year, we hold many activities for visiting and sharing with difficult people throughout the country for warm New Year holidays and today we come to Ly Son. In the spring atmosphere everywhere, we would like to bring New Year gifts to Ly Son people, though these gifts do not have much value, but it is the soul of PNJ Company collective that we want to share with poor families on New Year holidays.
On this occasion, PNJ has donated 500 million VND right in the groundbreaking ceremony to build the memorial at Paracel Islands, at Thoi Loi Mountain, Ly Son island district on the morning of January 17. This work is constructed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in collaboration with Quang Ngai Confederation of Labor. Accordingly, the main part of the memorial is the monument MOTHER KEEPING THE FIRE made of stainless steel, bearing the image of a tall woman of about 18m heading Paracel Islands, two hands holding a storm lamp over her chest as if she is giving a clear direction for her children who are protecting the national islands, as if she is heating the countless souls who died to protect the Paracel Islands…
