(PNJ) – On May 12, 2016, the representative delegation of PNJ Charity Fund arrived and awarded two PNJ Homes to two poor families in Dong Thap province.
In the morning, the delegation of PNJ Charity Fund stopped at the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Minh and his wife (Lang Bien Commune, Thap Muoi District, Dong Thap Province) to bring the joy to his family regarding a spacious firm brick house instead of their thatched roof house.
Ms. Hung Thi Huon – Mr. Minh’s wife – lives on weaving items from water hyacinth while her husband plants chili, their income every day is few thousand dongs. Their daily meals consist of boiled vegetables to eat with porridge but they are always warm. Living with each other for over 20 years, Ms. Huon said that she and her husband dreamed of enough money to remodel their dilapidated house.

When the food is not full enough, how dare they dream of a house? The dream of a solid house not to worry in rainy nights is just a utopian thing. Understanding their expectations and also admiring their sincere love beyond the fate of the elderly couple for each other, PNJ Charity Fund decided to build a solid brick house for them. Now, their hardships are also shared by the community with the hope of a happier life.
Housing worries have been removed, replaced by joy while living in the house of fresh paint smell. When certified of the decision to offer them a house, Ms. Huon continuously wiped her tears and said “Thank you all so much, thank you all so much” making all members of the team feel moved and happy.
Taking people to visit the new house, Mr. Minh said he was very happy with cyan-painted wall, because that is the color that he and his wife liked best
Leaving their house, the team went to the house of Ms. Tran Thi Hong Lien (Doc Binh Kieu Commune, Thap Muoi District, Dong Thap Province) to donate the second PNJ Home in a fine morning in the West. Ms. Lien had a leg disability since she was little, her travel was extremely difficult. Her daily work is to sell coffee in a small front stall, and if her neighbors hold any banquet, she also does manicures and pedicures for fellow villagers.
Her old house was built temporarily on a piece of land of her relative. With the little money earned from selling coffee, she has to raise her 3 children, including 2 children of her older sister – because she must strive to make a living at distant places, she let her two children brought up by her younger sister, Ms. Lien. Thus the financial burden to feed up the three children was put on the woman’s shoulder although she is struggling with movement.
Referring to Ms. Lien’s circumstance, PNJ Charity Fund was so moved due to her hard work and the house in poor condition including three children. For this reason, the program PNJ Home has come and realized her dream, helped her have more faith in love, happiness and energy to nurture the kids.
The unlucky woman in life now feels more secure, more confident in the road ahead
When asked about her feelings, she just wiped tears continuously and said “I dare not to dream of this dream” …
A new set of desk and chair donated to Kien – Ms. Lien’s son – was a very precious gift, she used to clean and cherish it as the dream of her child’s school
